Visiting a new dentist for the first time can seem a little daunting. At Daylight Dental, we want to do everything we can to help you feel at ease with us from the first moment you walk through our doors.

The first step is to call our Austin, TX dental office at (512) 782-8738 to schedule an appointment. For your convenience, we offer extended evening hours until 7 PM five nights a week—including Saturdays.

What to Bring to Your First Appointment

Before we can treat you, we need your medical information and a list of the prescription medications you take. Check out our forms page and download the medical history form to complete before your appointment.

If you can’t fill out your paperwork beforehand, please plan to arrive 15 minutes before your appointment and complete them at our office.

Your First Dental Examination

Your first visit is with one of our skilled Austin, TX dentists, and before your dental exam, they will review with you your medical history, dental history, and any oral health worries you have. Next, they’ll perform an oral exam that includes x-rays, intraoral images, and a treatment plan based on what we find.

Please note that our dentist cannot perform your exam without current dental x-rays to view the inside your teeth and under your gums to detect decay, bone loss, and tartar buildup, and make a proper diagnosis.

We can use any existing x-rays from your previous dentist if they are of high diagnostic quality and no more than six months old.

Your Dental Cleaning

Please be aware that we can’t guarantee that you’ll receive a dental cleaning the same day as your initial exam. Your dentist needs to determine your dental needs and concerns first, then tailor your hygiene treatment accordingly.

Your Dental Treatment Plan

Your consultation concludes with a treatment plan that is personalized to your needs and designed to prevent small issues from getting bigger and more expensive. Our experienced dentists will explain the problems we need to address and how the treatment will benefit you, but the final decision about whether or not to proceed is always up to you.

Before you leave us, our dental team will review your insurance, explain our financing options, and set up any future appointments as needed.
