Frequently Asked Questions
At Daylight Dental, we do everything possible to help our busy Austin, TX patients fit dental into their busy schedules, so we try to accommodate our new patients with a dental cleaning and exam during their first appointment.
If your dentist or hygienist finds that your gums are healthy and free of infection, they would recommend a simple dental cleaning. In this case, and if time permits, we will perform the treatment the same day.
However, some patients come to us with issues like advanced gum disease that are beyond what we can resolve with a simple dental cleaning. If this is the case, your hygienist would schedule a follow-up appointment to perform a deep periodontal cleaning called scaling and root planing.
This is a more in-depth type of dental cleaning, and your hygienist needs to take their time to do a thorough job that will help us restore your gums to a healthy state. Since it’s an involved procedure, these tend to be long appointments, so your hygienist will likely break the process into two visits to ensure your comfort.
We love welcoming new patients and families to our Austin, TX dental office and want to make your first appointment with us a success. Please call us at 512-782-8738 to schedule, or walk-in to our office, and we will get you on our schedule for the same day.
Many parents are surprised to hear that the American Dental Association recommends children have their first dental visit when their first tooth erupts, but no later than age one.
At our Austin, TX dental office, we’re pleased to see children of all ages, from infants to teens. If you wonder what treatment a child with baby teeth can possibly need, there are a couple of reasons why we make this recommendation.
First, the sooner we get your child accustomed to the idea of dental visits, the easier it will be for them to accept dentistry as part of their lives. These “happy visits” don’t involve treatment, unless your child has a specific issue we need to address.
Taking small steps—like giving them a ride in the dental chair or counting their teeth—gently immerse them into the new experience. The goal is a stress-free, happy visit that helps them get excited about future dental visits
These appointments are also a perfect opportunity to pick your dentist’s brain about any questions or concerns you have about your child’s oral hygiene, nutrition, bottle-feeding, or habits like thumb-sucking.
Your child’s oral health is precious, and our dental team provides the support you need to ensure their healthy little smile stays that way. If it is time to schedule your child’s first dental visit in Austin, TX, please call us, and we will be happy to arrange an appointment at your convenience.
Our office accepts numerous PPO insurances and accepts Texas Children’s Medicaid (TMHP) and CHIP.
At Daylight Dental, we strive to deliver comfortable, stress-free dental care. Combining the experience of highly-trained dentists, the care and attention of a dental team who puts your needs first, and top-of-the line dental anesthetics, your comfort is our priority.
We understand that dental anxiety is a significant problem and the main reason that many patients don’t seek and following through with the treatment they need. Your oral health is too precious to ignore, so we are pleased to offer nitrous oxide or “laughing gas” at our South Austin dental office to soothe your nerves and calm you so that you can drift comfortably through your appointment.
If you’ve been putting your oral health at risk because you worry that your dental procedure will hurt, we encourage you to call Daylight Dental. We take our patients’ comfort very seriously and do everything to ensure that you have a comfortable, stress-free appointment regardless of the treatment we’re providing.
